After filling in the entry form for Dragons Den, I spent months planning my pitch , learning the figures I needed to know and practicing all sorts of answers to any questions that the fiery Dragons might fire my way. When the day finally came to go to Pinewood studios I felt really well prepared to face them. It was a bit too far for my little Yorkshire terrier Rosie to travel and so Ziggy (a friends dog who lived near the studios) came along with me instead.
With all of the preperation I had done before hand, I didn't feel too nervous, until of course I got to the bottom of the stairs. As I walked into the Den I was gripped with fear and everything in my head just disappeared!
I could hardly breath as my pitch fell apart , and I couldn't remember a thing. Fortunately for me I had Ziggy the wonder Dog with me, who wasn't at all bothered about the scary Dragons and lapped up the attention. The Dragons loved him and I think he must have softened them up a bit. As each Dragon had their say about the Poopod I held my breath waiting for the one who would tear into me, but none of them did.
One by one they all said that the Poopod was a great product and they would buy one. they said well done ,that we were doing everything right to make a great family business and to keep going with it even though they didnt see a big enough business for an investment opportunity.
I was gutted that I didn't get a Dragon on board ,but thrilled to bits to have five of the top business people in the country congratulate Poopod Ltd and tell us we had a great product.
It was definatley the scariest thing I have ever done in my life so far, but I'm glad I did it. It was a great experience and now I can go fearlessly into any work situation. After all, it couldn't be any scarier than the Den!
